Thank you so much for the F9 - F10 solution!! You saved the day! I just purchased my daughter a laptop for her college graduation and we have been so frustrated for the last 5 minutes. This is the first suggestion we found and it worked!! We searched and searched through the manual for the mysterious wireless button to be dumbfounded. This first suggestion we found was amazing!

Hi all,
Thanks for the explanation. Me and my girl we are both 2 addicted workers in HP and we have new notebooks...However, we wanted to work on Sunday just to cover the things on bloody Monday, but we had same issue as you guys.
Thanks for the explanation we could enable our connectivity in order to to our work.
Cheers,
I.C.

I am running Windows 7 on a dv6 laptop, not sure exactly which model. I had the problem with the network button not being able to be turned on. The condition happened suddenly, and I tried a number of posted solutions to fix it.
Here is what finally worked:
1. Press Start button.
2. Type "HP Support Assistant" into the search window, and select it when it appears.
3. If you get a "Welcome" window form, fill it out as you like, and optionally uncheck "Show this screen when I open HP Support Assistant". Press "Next".
4. Press the button labeled "Internet and security".
5. Press the button labeled "HP Network Check".
6. Select "Yes" and press enter if you are asked if you want to allow the program to make changes to your computer.
7. After you get the "Welcome to HP Network Check" window, press "Next".
8. For me, the diagnostics run by this sequence found and fixed the problem.

Hello everyone,
I have an Envy DV6 notebook running Windows 8 and I just ran into the same problem and I managed to solve it without having to reset the BIOS. It seems that for power saving reasons, the OS cuts off the wifi card so you simply have to go into the start menu and type "wireless". Unde the settings tab you have "Turn wireless communication on or off". Click that and on the right side you will have a switch to enable wifi and also bluetooth and whatever.
