Dear Friends,

This is my "First" time on any type of Forum and I need some Help. I'm trying to connect a "Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934 to my

"HP Pavilion Elite HPE-137c Desktop". And I'm not sure how to do this. Can someone "Please" help me. Thank You (in advance), I really appreciate you're time.

Could you provide a few details, such as if you have a network setup using a router? Are both machines able to connect to the intenet through the router?

The computers on the network must each have unique names and must belong to the same “workgroup.”  “WORKGROUP,”  is often the default name assigned by Windows.

To change the computer name and group name in Vista and Windows 7, right-click “Computer” and select “Properties.” Find “Computer name:” At far right, click “Change settings.” In the System Properties dialog under “Computer name,” click the “Change” button. Enter your computer name  (or keep the old one, as long as it's unique), enter the same group name for each machine, and leave "Domain"blank. Click OK, and Windows will welcome you to the group and ask for a restart.

And that’s it – the basics of setting up our network. At this point, all the computers are in the same workgroup and will recognize each other. Each will be able to connect to the router and surf the net.

Tony, welcome to the best forum on the Internet.

If you are trying to transfer settings and files from one computer to another, you can simply use the application provided in Windows.  Here is a guide to help you.  If you want to setup a LAN so you can use the same Internet connection with both computers, you can use a crossover (CAT5) cable.  This is different than a standard cable that you would use to connect your computer to a modem.  It can transfer data two ways.

The two guides that I provided should help you.  Let us know if this is not what you want to do.

Hi, I was gone for awhile, sorry, I'm new to this Forum thing. Thanks for responding. As for more details, I'm trying to connect my Home Computer to a Friends Toshiba Laptop. I have Wireless and my Internal Ethernet card is what I'm using now. I want to connect my Friends Laptop to attempt to try and Boot it. The Hard-Drive on the laptop has been Scrubbed with Drive Scrubber software. When he brought it to me, he informed me that it had been "Scrubbed" and could I load "Windows" on it. I attempted to Load XP Pro. and Media Center. Each time, during setup, I got BSOD "Stop" 0x0000007B (0xF78D663C, 0x0000034, 0x0000000, 0x00000000). Thats about all I've got. Thanks again for you're help. Anything you can help with will be "Greatly Appreciated"!!!

I don't think you are going to be able to boot his laptop by connecting it to your machine. I guess he didn't burn a Recovery Disk set to boot from and reinstall? They can be ordered for around $20 I think.

Otherwise, I think the error with trying to install XP is due to SATA hdd and XP not having the sata controller driver. Not sure what Chipset, etc this model Toshiba has, but more Info on finding it is HERE
