hi ...interesting post

i have this same machine running on Debian... and  i love it . the machine  is extremely slow though in some specific context... When running windows apps on virtualbox some problems are appearing....virtualbox is unable to work with the dual processor architecture... so windows its running  limited to one of the  two single core cpu's. virtualbox has the capacity to assign several cores to the guest OS, in that context i was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade this machine with   multi-core  xeon's of the 7400 series (lasts socket 604's).  this cpus's are ruining  on similar voltage and a FSB of 1066Mts instead of the  800MTs of the motherboard. this should cause some sort of bottleneck but I think that not to much. if this upgrade could be possible i would love to keep running on this beautiful tyrannosaurus machine for years to come. Anyone has any clue about  if this could be possible?

best...and thanks

wikipedia say that the chipset  can only take an FSB of 800MTs so i guess no luk there but after some reaserch i'm 90% possitive that you could use the "Xeon 7140M", "Xeon 7130M", "Xeon 7120M", "Xeon 7110M" if bios supports them...

Note that all were relaesed prior to last bios update for the xw8200
