Z800 Workstation

I have 2 z800 machines. One is non-functioning and has a MB issue and I ordered a new board from eBay for it, the other machine is working fine. The working one has 2 CPUs and CPU fans. The fans are not as quiet as I would like (though not bad for such a powerful box) so I thought I would try out the recently purchased official HP z800 liquid cooling unit that I had lying around. It was meant to be used with the non-functioning machine.

I installed the liquid cooling unit using the directions described here,

Plugged everything in and turned the machine on. The fans (except RAM fans) started quietly, but no boot into bios. Then about 10-15 seconds later the fans started going very hard (RAM fans never ran). The machine would not boot.

So I took the liquid cooling unit out and put back the old fans. Rebooted the box and everything was back to normal.

So the question is what are the issues to look at when the liquid cooling unit cause a failure to boot?

Hi,

Please post the HP product number for your PC. How to Find the HP Model Number and the HP Product Number or let HP automatically find your PC model number and HP network attached printers. This will allow others to review your issue, make suggestions and review your responses. This is usually the best way to get assistance.

It might be that the water pumps are not working.  Do you see any power button flashing or beeps when the PC shuts down?

There are no flashing lights or beeps, just the fans start (ecept RAM) and no bios screen. I emailed the eBay vendor that sold me the new unti and they will take it back but they asked me to try again since they feel I the unti should be working. Only thing I can think of is that I may have made an error in the wiring. I followed the instructions provided by HP.  However, the photos of the wiring were not has detailed as could be.  Are these the instructions you used,

I will try again this weekend when I get a motherboard to setup a second z800 machine. I cannot risk messing up my working machine since it is needed for my work.
