HP 27mx 27-inch Display
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hi ive been having this problem with my 27mx where after like 30 minutes of usage on 60hz or 5 minutes on 144 hz it starts glitching and turning off (it first turns off for a second and comes back then after a minute it starts glitching to the point where I cant see anytihng on my screen) (screen tearing and those sorts of things) I found that using it on 60 hz and 5 brightness makes it happen less often but its not really optimal

I would like to use my screen on 144 hz without having problems with it and full birghtness but I cant since when the problem happens I need to disconnect my monitor from the power and wait 10 minutes before I can use it again

@noril25, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the monitor may be experiencing overheating or power delivery issues when operating at higher refresh rates or brightness levels. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue:

Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause display issues, especially at 144Hz.

Install HP Monitor Driver

Ensure the HP 27mx monitor driver is installed:

Check Cable and Port Quality

  • Use a high-quality DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0+ cable.
  • Avoid adapters or converters.
  • Try a different port on your GPU if available.

Test on Another PC

To rule out GPU or system issues, connect the monitor to another PC and test at 144Hz.

Monitor Overheating Check

Your symptoms suggest possible overheating:

  • Ensure the monitor has adequate ventilation.
  • Avoid placing it near heat sources or in enclosed spaces.
  • Try using a fan to cool the back of the monitor and see if the issue persists.

Reset Monitor Settings

  • Open the monitor’s OSD (On-Screen Display) menu.
  • Navigate to Factory Reset or Reset All Settings.

Power Cycle the Monitor

  • Unplug the monitor from power for 10 minutes.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds while unplugged.
  • Reconnect and test again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
