As stated in the originial post, it is clearly a mechanical fault and not a software issue. If you would care to re-read the issue that would be excellent.

What I did was called HP and said how it was a free mouse with my laptop and they issued a new one free of charge under warrenty once I sent evidence of the mechanical fault. Maybe you should try the same.
