Hi @Witika,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

  1. Exact HP Omnibook Model
    • Which HP Omnibook do you have (model number)?
  2. eGPU Specifications
    • Which GMtek eGPU box do you have?
    • What is the required power input for the eGPU dock (does it need 200 W or is 200 W the combined cable capacity)?
    • Does the eGPU come with its own power brick, or do you plan to power both the eGPU and the laptop from one power supply?
  3. USB4 / Thunderbolt Support
    • Does your Omnibook support Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 with power delivery?
  4. Current Charger Specs
    • Your current charger is 65 W    is that the original one that came with the laptop?
    • What are the output specifications printed on the charger (voltage, amperage)?

  • If you try to use a 200 W power cable / adapter that’s not designed specifically for both the eGPU and the laptop, you risk:
    • Insufficient power to run the GPU fully
    • Not charging the laptop, or very slow charging
    • Potential damage if the voltage / current is mismatched

If you like, you can give me the model number of your Omnibook and the GMtek eGPU model, and I can check specifically for compatibility and recommend the right adapter (if needed).

I hope this helps.

It is a epu from Amazon. I got my 65W charger from the laptop. The egpu has a 200W charger for the egpu and to charge my laptop. My laptop does support usb4. I am wondering if my laptop will charge with a charger not built for it while gaming. The egpu is the GMKtec AD-GP1 External GPU Docking Station, eGPU Enclosure with AMD Radeon 7600M XT GPU Graphics Card, HDMI2.1, DisplayPort2.0, Oculink, USB4, eGPU Dock from Amazon. It has a 240W input and 100W output.

Yes, the GMKtec eGPU’s 200 W power delivery over USB4 can charge your HP OmniBook AMD laptop, even though your native charger is only 65 W. However not recommended .

I hope this helps.
