I am having issues with my gaming headset not connecting to my pc by blue tooth and also while plugged in. I have tried everything from uninstalling drivers and updating i am at a loss. Has anyone experienced these issues before?

Hi @MasonB92

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are structured steps you can follow to troubleshoot your gaming headset connection issues on Windows:

Bluetooth Connection

Verify Bluetooth is enabled

  • Open Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & devices.
  • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on.

Remove and re-pair the headset

  • In Bluetooth & devices, locate your headset.
  • Select Remove device.
  • Put the headset into pairing mode and reconnect.

Check Bluetooth services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Ensure Bluetooth Support Service is running and set to Automatic.

Update Bluetooth drivers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Bluetooth.
  • Right-click your adapter and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.

Wired Connection (USB or 3.5mm Jack)

Confirm default audio device

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
  • Select Sound settings.
  • Under Output, ensure your headset is selected.

Check Device Manager for headset recognition

  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • If the headset appears with a warning icon, right-click and select Update driver.

Test different ports

  • If USB, try multiple USB ports directly on the PC.
  • If 3.5mm jack, ensure it is connected to the correct audio port.

Disable audio enhancements

  • In Sound settings, select your headset.
  • Go to Device properties > Additional device properties.
  • Under Enhancements, check Disable all enhancements.

General Checks

  • Restart the PC after driver updates.
  • Ensure the headset is fully charged or powered.
  • If the headset has a companion app, confirm firmware is updated.
