I purchased an HP 430 Multi-Device Wireless Mouse in December of 2025, and the wheel click mechanism has begun to fail.
I checked and the HP listing shows that the mouse has a 12 month warranty, but when I try to register the serial to my account I get an error.

  • I have double and triple checked the serial, including swapping zeros and letter o's just in case
  • I have tried the online seral detector including downloading and running the utility locally (on two different computers)
  • I have searched the forum and found other users with similar issues, but the threads did not indicate a clear answer

Does anyone know how I can possibly open a warranty claim for this mouse?

Hi  @AnchorLark

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your concern , don’t worry let me check and help you with this.

To better understand the warranty and registration concern, could you kindly confirm whether the HP 430 Multi-Device Wireless Mouse was:

  • Purchased separately as a standalone accessory, or
  • Included/bundled with an HP computer or other HP product at the time of purchase?

Additionally, could you kindly share a clear picture of the label attached to the bottom of the mouse via private message? This will help us verify the product details, serial number, and other identifying information so we can guide you more accurately regarding the warranty claim process.

Along with the photo, kindly include:

  • Product number (P/N), if visible
  • Serial number (S/N)

Once we receive these details, we can review the information and assist you with the next steps.

Thank you for the response @Deep_World

I purchased the mouse as a standalone  purchase (from the HP Store on Amazon Canada)

I don't seem to have access to private messages at this time.
I do not see any  private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to my profile name., and when I click the link below I get an error:
" You do not have sufficient privileges for this resource or its parent to perform this action.
Click your browser's Back button to continue."
Do you what I need to do to enable private messaging?

Thanks in advance

Hi @AnchorLark,

Thank you for the update, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain the issue.

I understand that you purchased the mouse separately through the HP Store on Amazon Canada and that you're currently unable to access private messaging. Thank you for sharing the error message you received.

Could you kindly try accessing the private message link again after a few hours? Sometimes there can be a temporary issue with account permissions or community access that gets resolved after some time.

In the meantime, I will check with our internal team to better understand why you are unable to access private messages and why the private message icon is not appearing on your profile.

Hi @AnchorLark,

Thank you for reaching out and for providing the additional details. I understand you're having difficulty registering the serial number for your HP 430 Multi-Device Wireless Mouse despite trying multiple variations and the available detection tools.

I checked our internal tools and can confirm that the serial number is being recognized under the following product:

Product Number: 3B4Q2AA
Description: HP 430 Multi-Device Wireless Mouse

Since the product is being recognized by our systems, and if the mouse is still within the applicable warranty period, To get you the best assistance, we need to take this conversation to a private chat. We're inviting you to a private message to protect your privacy and ensure that any sensitive information remains confidential.

To access your private message, just click the little blue envelope icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile name. Alternatively, you can click on this link.
