I have a HP Lifestyle TPC-P001K Multi Media Keyboard and I'm unable to initiate an fn lock. I have read many forums online and I saw the other Discussion post where an HP Employee said to hold down the fn key and the lock button in the top right corner of my keyboard. It doesn't work. I've also searched in UEFI BIOS for Hot Key settings, but there is no such setting that I can find. Also, the BIOS instructions that has been given to multiple people on this Community site is outdated for Windows 11. The pictures that are displayed for BIOS need to be for current models. Below, I'll attach my msinfo as well as pictures of what I'm working with for BIOS.

Here are my msinfo32 details:

Here is what it looks like getting into my BIOS, and what my UEFI BIOS looks like:

Hi @DesktopPCuser,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To enable Fn Lock on your HP Lifestyle TPC-P001K Multi Media Keyboard, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check the Fn Lock Shortcut

  • Some HP keyboards use a specific combination to enable Fn Lock:
    • Fn + Esc (commonly used on many HP keyboards).
    • Fn + Lock key (this is typically in the top-right corner, sometimes labeled with a padlock icon or "Lock").
  • Ensure you press both keys simultaneously, holding them for 1-2 seconds.

2. Verify Keyboard Behavior in Windows

  • Go to Settings > System > Keyboard (or search "keyboard settings").
  • Check if there are options related to function keys (e.g., "Use F1–F12 as standard function keys").
  • If the keyboard requires special drivers, ensure that HP Hotkey Support Software is installed from HP's official website.

3. Update or Check UEFI BIOS

Since you mentioned outdated BIOS instructions, here's a modern approach for Windows 11 systems:

  1. Restart your PC and enter the BIOS/UEFI by pressing Esc or F10 repeatedly during startup.
  2. In UEFI, look for settings under System Configuration or a similar menu for "Action Keys" or "Function Key Mode."
    • Action Key Mode ON: Function keys require Fn (default).
    • Action Key Mode OFF: Function keys act as standard (no need for Fn).
  3. Save the changes and reboot your system.

4. Check for BIOS Updates

  • Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day
