I don't think the display port is working. I got a 8k Display port cable and the other end is a HDMI 2.1 and that doesn't work on the Display port either. What am I missing?? My New Laptop is a Lenovo Yoga

Hi @RyGuyMcFly21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your HP OMEN Transcend laptop is having difficulties in activating the DisplayPort, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Test with a Different Cable/Port:

  • If possible, try using a different DisplayPort cable or another port to rule out a faulty cable or port.

Check Physical Connections

  • Ensure that the DisplayPort cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the external monitor. Try reseating the connectors to make sure they are properly attached.

Verify Monitor Input

  • Confirm that your external monitor is set to the correct input source. This can usually be done through the monitor's on-screen display menu.

Update Graphics Drivers

Check Display Settings

  • Go to the display settings on your laptop:
  • For Windows: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
  • Verify that the system detects the external monitor. If detected, ensure it is not set to "disconnect" or "mirror" but rather to "extend" or the appropriate mode you wish to use.

BIOS and System Updates:

  •  Ensure your laptop's BIOS is updated to the latest version, as updates may contain fixes for hardware compatibility issues. BIOS updates can also be found on the HP Support website.

Reset Display Modes:

  • Occasionally, resetting the display modes can help:
  • Disconnect the external monitor.
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Connect the monitor again and check if it detects the display.

Try Another Device

  • Connect a different device to your external monitor using the same cable and port to determine if the issue is with the laptop or the monitor itself.

Take care and have an amazing day!
