HP Omen 27q

Hi

I got this monitor today and it seems to have excessive light bleed in the bottom left hand corner, its very noticable in dark games.

Here is a picture of the brand new monitor

In contrast here is my old Iiyama monitor I have next to it

Hi @Retrofly,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how disappointing it must be to notice excessive light bleed on a brand-new monitor, especially when you're expecting an upgrade in your gaming experience. Let’s determine if this is something that requires a replacement or if it can be resolved.

  • Does the light bleed remain constant, or does it change depending on the viewing angle or brightness settings?
  • Is the issue only noticeable in specific applications or games, or is it visible even during normal usage like on a black screen?
  • Have you tried adjusting the monitor settings (e.g., brightness, contrast, or backlight) to see if it reduces the light bleed?

Let's try these steps.

Check in Different Lighting Conditions

  • Test the monitor in both a dark room and a well-lit environment to confirm the extent of the light bleed. Sometimes, ambient lighting can make it appear less severe.

Adjust Monitor Settings

  • Reduce the brightness or backlight level in the monitor settings. Excessive brightness can amplify the visibility of light bleed.

Perform a Dead Pixel Test

  • Use a solid black screen test to isolate whether the issue is light bleed or another problem like stuck pixels. There are free online tools for testing this.

Test Different Inputs and Cables

  • Connect the monitor using different ports (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort) or cables to rule out signal interference causing the issue.

Compare Over Time

  • Monitor light bleed often becomes less noticeable over time as the screen panel settles. Use the monitor for a few days and see if the issue persists or improves.

If the light bleed remains excessive and significantly affects your gaming experience, reaching out to the retailer or contact HP phone support would be a reasonable next step.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
