HP Omen Accelerator / HP Elitebook 840 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I would like to get an external GPU enclosure for my Elitebook 840 G5. The compatibility list provided by HP does not include this model of Elitebook, however it has a Thunderbolt port and from different forums I have found that for example the Gigabyte Aorus 1070 box works fine with this laptop.

Can anyone advise whether the combination of the Accelerator and Elitebook 840 G5 will work? I already had my share of compatibility issues with the thunderbolt port in my previous Zbook and I would like to avoid waisting money on a non-functional eGPU.

The Elitebook is my work laptop and I am also considering purchasing a separate gaming machine, but being able to have all my data on the same laptop would be much more convenient. I also believe that the new generation i7 in the Elitebook should handle gaming just fine, the only bottleneck is the GPU.

Thanks for any advice or comments!
