Hi there
I need information about W indicator on the HP Omen Wired 1100. I have been check on the documentation on https://hp.manymanuals.com/unknown/omen-keyboard-1100 but there is no information about W meaning.
Also, my FN function not working. I wanted to customize like if I click FN with F1 then change track. How to achieve that?
Thank you

Hi @yohanim,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
The W indicator on the HP OMEN Wired 1100 keyboard typically refers to the "Windows Key Lock" feature. When this indicator is lit, the Windows key is disabled to prevent accidental interruptions during gaming sessions. This feature is common on gaming keyboards to avoid minimizing games when the Windows key is pressed.
Steps to Manage the W Indicator (Windows Key Lock)
- Look for a key combination to toggle the Windows Key Lock. It is often FN + Windows Key or another similar combination.
- Press the combination to enable or disable the Windows key functionality. The W indicator should turn on or off accordingly.
Customizing FN Key Behavior
To customize the FN key for actions like changing tracks, you'll need software support or firmware that allows such functionality. Here's what you can do:
HP OMEN Command Center:
- Check if the HP OMEN Command Center software is installed on your computer. If not, download it from HP's support website.
- Open the Command Center and check for keyboard customization options. Some OMEN peripherals allow remapping FN key functions.
Third-Party Key Remapping Software:
- If the keyboard's native software doesn't support remapping, you can use third-party tools like SharpKeys, AutoHotkey, or KeyTweak to customize key actions.
- Example AutoHotkey Script for FN + F1 to change tracks:
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP support site to check for any firmware updates for the keyboard that might enhance its functionality.
If the FN key isn't working at all, try the following:
- Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out hardware issues.
- Ensure no conflicting keyboard software is running in the background.
- Reset the keyboard to default settings (check the manual for specific instructions).
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
