HP 27xq Gaming 68.6 cm (27" ) Quad-HD Monitor - 144Hz, 1ms Response
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

What does this mean and why is it like this? It's listed under technical details:

Recommended resolution: QHD (2560x1440) @60Hz

Resolution (maximum): QHD (2560x1440) @144Hz

Isn't this monitor intended for 2K use at 144Hz? Are there downsides to running 2K at 144Hz? I'm trying to see why there is a recommended resolution that has a lower refresh rate.

For regular normal usage, the monitor uses the recommended resolution QHD (2560x1440) @60Hz. But it can also support HD (2560x1440) @144Hz which usually makes a difference when playing high end games. But by design it is meant to be used at the recommended resolution

That is why the specification mentions the recommended resolution as QHD (2560x1440) @60Hz but it can also support QHD (2560x1440) @144Hz if needed while playing high end games

Thank you
