HP Reverb G2

I have had my HP Reverb G2 for a short time and my right controller suddenly stopped working. After multiple battery changes its constantly disconnecting and reconnecting as well as having a dim light compared to the left controller. Ive purchased multiple different types of batteries and none have worked. The HP website is also not accepting the serial number of my product.

Hi @BenRook,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing issues with your HP Reverb G2 right controller that could be caused by several factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check for Firmware Updates

Ensure that your HP Reverb G2 and controllers are running the latest firmware. Sometimes, issues like connectivity and battery performance can be resolved with a firmware update. You can do this through the Windows Mixed Reality Portal.

Re-pair the Controller

Try unpairing and re-pairing the controller with the headset:

  • Open the Windows Mixed Reality Portal.
  • Go to Settings > Controllers.
  • Remove the right controller and then follow the on-screen instructions to re-pair it.

Inspect the Battery Compartment

Even with new batteries, the battery compartment or contacts might not be making a good connection. Check the inside of the compartment for any dirt, corrosion, or damage. Use a soft cloth or compressed air to clean it.

Reset the Controller

If possible, try to reset the controller. You can do this by holding down the controller's Windows button and Menu button simultaneously for 10 seconds. After that, attempt to pair it again.

Test with Another Set of Batteries

Even though you've tried different types of batteries, try using a high-quality alkaline battery, as some rechargeable batteries may not perform optimally in this type of device.

Check for Interference

Wireless interference from nearby devices could cause disconnecting issues. Try moving your setup to an area with less potential interference from other wireless devices, such as routers, microwaves, or other wireless peripherals.

Try on a Different PC

If possible, test the controller on a different PC to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if it's a hardware issue with the controller itself or a software/driver problem on your current PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
