Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just in case this can help someone else.

I had the 1-4 error, tried everything including a new cable, new powered PCIE USB-C-3.1

IN desparation I asked a Facebook group and some one replied ,

"THe problem is the refresh rate of your display. Just Enter on NVIDIA driver, create a new resolution (like 1920x1080p 61Hz) Apply. THEN plug in the power supply , after windows has started"

Apparently the reason is,

" Refresh rate on G2 is 90Hz and WMR Portal automatically tries to change to this. BUT Windows doesn't offer 90HZ options on video modes on monitors and TV(only 30, 60, 120, 144)  so the G2 conflicts and causes error. If you [tell]windows to use a different non default refresh, say 61, 59, on your desktop then the G2 plugging in doesn't interfere with the desktop "

I have no idea why this is the case, but after 4 months of trying, this worked.  Totally bizarre
