I woke my HP laptop up this morning and then woke up my mouse by flipping the switch on the bottom of the mouse. The LED started blinking consistantly, but did not stop after the 2 patterns of 5 that would indicate that it was pairing to the dongle. There is no detection of the mouse by the computer, I replaced the batteries less than 2 weeks ago, and a known good HP Wireless Mouse was able to connect to the dongle.
Is there a reason for the constant blinking? The documentation that comes with the mouse does not mention this LED blink pattern.
Thank you for your help.

Hi @kcddagger,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that the wireless mouse is not working and the led is blinking.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the mouse was working fine?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
- Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?
Meanwhile, I recommend you replace the batteries in the mouse and check if that resolves the problem.
If the issue persists, follow the steps in the below article.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

The last time the mouse worked was the night before when I put the computer to sleep, switched the mouse off, and then packed my school bag in preparation for class.
There have been no hardware or software changes. (Please note that to continue my studies in a timely and efficiant fashion I went out and purchased another mouse this one a Logitech 510 Wireless. It is seen by the computer and works properly)
Troubleshooting steps I have taken:
1) Switched the mouse off, then switched the positions of the batteries in the battery compartment before switching the mouse back on.
2) Pressed the blue Connect button on the bottom of the mouse to reset the connection to the dongle
3) Reseated the dongle in its current USB port
4) Plugged the dongle into a different USB port (Tried all 3 type A ports on the laptop)
Again, given my useage of the mouse and the brand of batteries I use the batteries should not have been an issue given the fact that I replaced them with BRAND NEW ones less than 2 weeks ago It usually takes me approximately 10 months to wear the batteries out depending on how much gaming I do in my down time.
