HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a (2Z6E2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop and my mouse and keyboard always disconnect and reconnect when I'm playing games it's to the point where its every minute or two and I've tried everything such as device manager stuff, getting an entirely new keyboard, and power saving options. Im on the verge of selling and getting a whole entire different brand of pc as nothing is a clear and definite solution to my problem.

Hi @chaseee3eee,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop. Frequent disconnection and reconnection of your mouse and keyboard can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue before considering selling or switching to a different brand. Here are some suggestions.

USB Ports: Try using different USB ports on your computer. If you're using USB hubs, connect your mouse and keyboard directly to the computer's USB ports to rule out any issues with the hubs.

Drivers: Ensure that your motherboard and peripheral drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website or the website of the motherboard manufacturer to download and install the latest drivers for your system.

BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there are any BIOS or UEFI updates available for your motherboard. Updating the system firmware can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues.

Power Management: Disable USB selective suspend in the power management settings. This can be done through the Windows Control Panel or the advanced power settings.

  • Open the Control Panel.
  • Go to "Power Options."
  • Click on "Change plan settings" for your selected power plan.
  • Click on "Change advanced power settings."
  • Expand "USB settings" and disable "USB selective suspend setting."

Disable Power Saving for USB Devices:

  • Open Device Manager (press Win + X and choose Device Manager).
  • Locate your USB hubs/controllers under "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
  • Right-click each one, go to "Properties," and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under the "Power Management" tab.

Check for Interference: Wireless devices can be affected by interference. If your mouse and keyboard are wireless, try using them in a different environment or switch to wired devices temporarily to see if the issue persists.

Test with Different Devices: If possible, try using different mouse and keyboard models to see if the issue is specific to certain devices.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
