Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can't connect the reverb G2 controllers no matter what I try.

It's written that I don't need to have bluetooth on my computer since the headset has a built-in receiver but no matter how many times I install Windows Mixed Reality, it never ever asked me to configure my controllers...

I tried unplugging all other usb controllers but WMR always just says "keep looking at the gem if you want to keep using mouse and keyboard".

I can't add the controller manually, nothing happens when I do that. Plus instead of starting the software like it seems to do with everybody else, it just takes me to windows bluetooth configuration.

My computer is up to date (win, GPU, BIOS etc) and I installed the whole thing following the guide step by step.

The controllers were no longer paired with the headset. No matter what I tried they couldn't connect because the default pairing was just not there.

So I did have to buy a bluetooth dongle to make the controllers work with the hp reverb G2.

Hi @ThomFrost,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble connecting the controllers for your HP Reverb G2, here’s a detailed guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Verify System Requirements

Check Hardware Requirements:

  • Ensure your PC meets the minimum requirements for the HP Reverb G2, including the GPU, CPU, RAM, and USB ports.

Windows Version:

  • Confirm that you are running a compatible version of Windows 10 or Windows 11.

2. Proper Installation of Hardware

Reconnect Cables:

  • Unplug and reconnect all cables, including the headset and controllers. Ensure that the USB and display cables are securely connected.

Check USB Ports:

  • Use different USB ports for the headset and controllers. Preferably, use USB 3.0 ports and avoid using USB hubs.

3. Install and Update Software

Install Windows Mixed Reality (WMR):

  • Download and install the latest version of Windows Mixed Reality from the Microsoft Store if not already installed.

Update WMR Software:

  • Ensure that the Windows Mixed Reality software is up-to-date. Updates can be found in the Microsoft Store or through Windows Update.

Check for Reverb G2 Firmware Updates:

  • Use the HP Reverb G2’s companion software to check for and install any firmware updates for the headset.

4. Reboot and Restart

Restart Your PC:

  • Reboot your computer to ensure that all system updates and installations are correctly applied.

Restart Windows Mixed Reality:

  • Close Windows Mixed Reality and reopen it. Sometimes, restarting the application can resolve connection issues.

5. Troubleshoot Windows Mixed Reality

Run the Windows Mixed Reality Setup:

  • Go to Settings > Mixed Reality and follow the setup process again. Ensure that you follow each step carefully.

Check for Conflicting Devices:

  • Disconnect any other USB devices that may interfere with the setup, such as other VR devices or peripherals.

6. Reset WMR and Controllers

Reset Windows Mixed Reality:

  • Go to Settings > Mixed Reality > Set up and follow the instructions to reset and configure the headset.

Reset the Controllers:

  • Make sure the controllers have fresh batteries and are turned on. Press and hold the Windows button and the system button (on the side) simultaneously for a few seconds to restart the controllers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
