OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-db1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

Hey, so I bought a new HP Omen 17 Ryzen AI 5 and the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless from the HP.com website. ive connected the headset to my phone via bluetooth, it works fine. the laptop just came today, and the bluetooth does not find the hyperX headset on the list. i have the headset in pairing mode (little light near power button is flashing blue), ive ensured everything is up to date and installed. but no matter what I do I cant find the hyperX headset via bluetooth on the laptop.

Ive watched 2 videos, and used the laptops co-pilot to try to figure out how to discover the headset via bluetooth, but nothing works. the headset works fine while using the 2.4 dongle but the bluetooth is the reason i spent 140 dollars on the headset.

Anyone know how to get it working?

Hi @PazuzuGaming,

I understand your HP Omen 17 isn’t discovering your HyperX Cloud III S Wireless headset via Bluetooth, even though the headset works fine with your phone and the 2.4GHz dongle. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this.

Confirm Bluetooth compatibility
The HyperX Cloud III S Wireless headset is designed primarily for use with the 2.4GHz dongle. Many HyperX “S” headsets do not support standard Bluetooth audio on PCs—they may only pair via Bluetooth with phones or tablets. Check the headset’s manual to confirm PC Bluetooth support.

Check the laptop’s Bluetooth status
Open Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and ensure Bluetooth is turned on. Look for any errors or warnings under your Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager.

Restart Bluetooth services
Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Find Bluetooth Support Service, right-click, and select Restart. Then try pairing the headset again.

Update Bluetooth drivers
Even if Windows says drivers are up to date, manually check HP Support Assistant or the HP website for the latest Bluetooth drivers for your HP Omen 17. Outdated drivers can prevent devices from being discovered.

Remove interference
Turn off other Bluetooth devices nearby that might interfere with pairing. Keep the headset in pairing mode and within a few feet of the laptop.

Test with a different PC
If possible, try connecting the headset to another computer via Bluetooth. If it doesn’t appear, the headset may not support PC Bluetooth connections.

I hope this helps.
