Here is one option I believe is what you are looking for (assuming you live in the US): HP 5189URF USB Receiver Only 5188-8900 NEXT DAY SHIPPING | eBay
Hope this helps.

Your a Star, and your handle is appropriate as the outcome was unexpected!
I have messaged the dealer via ebay to double-check the dongle is compatible, and if so I will buy it.
Thanks for your help and I will let you know what happens.
Best regards.

I contacted the company with the advertised used dongle to check its compatibility. They suggested I contact HP UK Support or look at Google.
I was unable to get anywhere with either after spending about 3 hours on it. The former was a useless bot that went nowhere and wouldn't even recognise the model or part numbers. Neither could I find an answer via Google.
So I effectively have the frustrating choice now of speculatively buying a used dongle that may/may not work, or just giving up & buying a new set-up.

In my opinion, chances are good to excellent that a replacement HP 5189URF dongle will pair with your keyboard/mouse combo. As far as I could ascertain, these HP 5189URF dongles are generic and should pair with your keyboard/mouse combo.
Instructions I was able to find online says to move the keyboard/mouse closer than 30 cm to the wireless receiver before you plug it in your PC to assist in pairing. Tried as I did, I could not locate the original HP driver. I suspect that a universal Microsoft/HP plug-and-play driver will get it to work, unless your computer still has the original HP 5189URF driver.

hi
I see here, that the answer has been marked..
But you can't confirm @Hopeful25 ?
I ask this, because I personally have a big doubt
I find it curious to see this on sale, so far, and after seeing a few examples, it seems next to impossible
unless you have the new systems with universal dongle
I even found an explanation from an HP employee, and that's what I had also seen, sometimes!
Résolu: SOURIS USB DONGLE MANQUANT - Communauté d’assistance HP - 6201749
So I wonder if there is a scam trying to sell dongles alone
If sometimes, it's just bad luck..
If we are made to believe that this is simply not possible
My intervention here, is mainly, since the answer is marked, not to give false hope to other users, who could think that it is possible when ultimately not the case!
The first dongle I saw is indicated for US $11.99
this is only an example, but for me it remains a scam, because for not much more, you have a complete kit ..
Too bad, I would like to have confirmation in order to be fixed for this type of problem

First of all, the Seller's status/rating/reputation shows a 99.5% positive feedback over 3,545 transactions. The probability that somehow this part is a "scam" is next to negligible.
Secondly, if it is the case that this dongle doesn't work, you can get your money back as per eBay's "Money Back Guarantee". I have beaucoup experience returning items/being refunded by eBay. They have been wonderful to work with.
Outstanding Customer Service.
Thirdly, it so happened that @Hopeful25 specifically asked for a replacement HP 5189URF dongle. That is exactly what was provided. I am almost certain that it must have occurred to @Hopeful25 that purchasing a new keyboard/mouse combo was/is an option.
Conclusion: very little risk.
