HP X34 WQHD Gaming Monitor
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a new X34 monitor and, while it's working well, I have some questions about settings on start up:

1. Whenever I reboot or start the PC, the HP Display Center automatically resets my monitor to Full/Native setting, and the brightness is way too bright. I have to manually reset the monitor to neutral, which is the setting I like. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get it to stop?

2. Whenever I cold boot my PC, the speaker settings on the laptop (Alienware m15 R3) automatically set sound to HP X34 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio), and I have to manually set the sound source. My monitor doesn't even have speakers, so I'm wondering why Windows 11 would automatically set the sound to a non-existent source. Does anyone know why this might be happening and whether it has something to do with the monitor?

Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.

Hi@Don178,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP X34 WQHD Gaming Monitor.

I have a few recommendations

  • HP Display Center gives you access to custom settings you need to personalize your display.
  • Click on this link to use HP Display Center to configure the display settings.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

They pay you for this "support?" Did you even read my post? Better yet, can you read my post? As my grandmother used to say, "If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all."

Hi@Don178,

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

I apologize for the Inconvenience. There is no issue with the X34 Gaming Monitor. It could be from the laptop PC.

Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance.

I have the same problem with my x34 Monitor at Work.

I've set the color settings to "Neutral" as well. Whenever I power of the Monitor from the standby button on the back of the monitor and turn it back on, it has lost its color setting and is back to "Gaming".

I think its a bug in the monitors "menu software". 😞

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. It seems that - as you say - the software doesn't maintain prior settings if you turn off or reboot the PC. In my case, it reverts to Full/Native, though I prefer to have it set to Neutral. This is definitely something that HP needs to investigate and fix.

I have the same issue.

Every time i start my PC, my color settings are on "Gaming" preset.

I change it to Native and it keeps going back to Gaming.

It is not only happening when i reboot, also when i open a browser or a game it is switching to Gaming color settings.

Please fix this.

I have had contact with the customer service, they helped me through a series of steps to help solve the problem. These were rather technical, but clearly explained and doable if you have some basis PC knowledge. I also completely reinstalled all my graphics card driver. It seems that the problem has been solved eversince. I contacted HP via Whatsapp, worked pretty well. Maybe fully removing any graphics drivers and reinstalling them is worth the try before going through the technical steps. I do not know which one of them eventually solved the problem.

LOL, while i was typing this comments all setting jumped back to gaming etc...... While this happened, the HP Omen app gave a pop-up messege and somehow reinstalled itself or something. Maybe this interferes with the settings as well.
