I have a rather new Omen Max 16. when first bought the keyboard would light up, now I've tried everything and can't get them back on. Changing settings in Omen Gaming system software that came with it doesn't do anything anymore (that program I thing is almost useless with bugs, IMO. Another thing is I've tried everything to reduce Ram usage and Windows is almost using almost 29% of my RAM, even on fresh startup with nothing open. Ridiculous, that's why I bough 32 GB Ram. Think this will be my last HP ever. I have better things to do with my time than figure out problems with my laptop.

Hi @NoNameForMe2
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand your concern and I'd be happy to help look into both the keyboard lighting concern and the memory usage you mentioned.
To better assist you, could you kindly confirm the below details :
- Did the keyboard lighting stop working after a Windows update, BIOS update, or OMEN Gaming Hub update?
- When you press Fn + F4 (or the keyboard lighting key), does anything happen?
- Are all lighting zones affected, or only certain keys?
In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :
1. Check Keyboard Backlight Brightness
- Press the keyboard backlight key (typically F4) several times.
- If needed, hold Fn + F4 to cycle through the brightness levels.
2. Verify Keyboard Lighting in OMEN Gaming Hub
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
- Select Lighting.
- Check whether a lighting profile is enabled.
- Try changing the color and brightness settings.
- Save the profile and restart the PC.
3. Run Windows Update
- Go to Settings -Windows Update.
- Install all available updates, including optional updates.
- Restart the notebook.
4. Update BIOS and Drivers
Kindly visit: https://support.hp.com/
Enter your product model and install:
- Latest BIOS
- HP System Event Utility

Regarding the memory usage, Windows 11 (How to Fix RAM Usage Issues - Click here) is designed to use available RAM for caching and performance optimization. On a system with 32 GB RAM, seeing around 25-30% usage after startup can be normal, especially when security services, drivers, OMEN utilities, and background services are loaded. This does not necessarily mean RAM is unavailable; Windows will automatically free memory when applications need it.
I hope this helps.
