Hi @Kazzy3

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Blackshark V2 X headphones aren’t working with your laptop’s 3.5mm jack, and the device isn't being recognized, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check the Headphones

  • Test on Another Device: Plug your headphones into a different device (like a smartphone or another laptop) to see if they work there. If they don’t, the issue might be with the headphones themselves.

2. Check the Laptop's Audio Jack

  • Inspect the Jack: Look for any dust or debris in the 3.5mm audio jack of your laptop. A can of compressed air can help clear it out.
  • Try Different Headphones: If possible, try using a different pair of headphones to see if they work. This can help identify if the problem is with the laptop or the headphones.

3. Audio Settings on the Laptop

  • Check Volume Levels: Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and open Volume Mixer. Ensure that the volume is up and that your headphones aren’t muted.
  • Set Default Playback Device:
    • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray.
    • Select Sounds > Playback tab.
    • Look for your headphones in the list. If they are there, right-click and select Set as Default Device. If you don’t see them, continue troubleshooting.

4. Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers

  • Update Drivers:
    • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
    • Right-click your audio device and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • Roll Back Drivers:
    • If the issue started after a driver update, right-click on the audio device in Device Manager and select Properties. Go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver if the option is available.

5. Check Audio Enhancements

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray, go to Sounds > Playback, select your default device, and click Properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements. Click Apply and see if that resolves the issue.

6. Run the Audio Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  • Scroll down and select Troubleshoot under the Output section. Follow the prompts to identify and fix any issues.

7. Windows Updates

  • Ensure your Windows is up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix underlying issues with hardware compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
