OMEN Transcend 31.5 inch UHD 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitor - OMEN Transcend 32

Hello,

Monitor is on the latest 1.0.6.0 firmware version and all my computer drivers/bios are up to date. I am using display in HDR mode. I am using it with a RTX 5080 and AMD 9800X3D. I have also attempted to resolve issue by buying a Cable Matters DP 2.1 DP80 cable.

Issue 1:

I am unable to get this monitor working properly in DP 2.1 mode. When turning on the computer, the monitor does not pick up the signal and instead goes to sleep. Turning off and on the monitor using the button seems to resolve this problem. However, this problem also occurs when switching between inputs. When using this monitor in DP 1.4 mode this problem goes away.

Issue 2:

OLED Protection automatically turns off. Every time I use this monitor, the OLED protections turn off automatically. This is quite frustrating as I would like to minimise the risk of burn in.

Issue 3:

Firmware, the lighting version does not update from 43.1.2.23 to 43.1.2.25 version despite install being successful multiple times. No impact on device usability so far.

Is there a new firmware being released soon? Last update was back in November shortly after when monitor was released it seems.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your OLED Protection & DP2.1 Issues

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating these issues can be, especially with a high-end gaming monitor like the OMEN Transcend 32. Since you've already ensured your firmware (1.0.6.0), drivers, BIOS, and even cables are up to date, let's go over each issue and try to find a solution

DisplayPort 2.1 Not Working Properly

It seems like the monitor struggles to detect the signal in DP 2.1 mode, but works fine in DP 1.4 mode. Since you have already tried a Cable Matters DP 2.1 DP80 cable, here is what you can try:

Change Display Settings in NVIDIA Control Panel

  • Go to NVIDIA Control Panel > Change Resolution
  • Set Refresh Rate to 240Hz and Color Depth to 10-bit
  • Check if the issue persists.

OLED Protection Turning Off Automatically

Since burn-in protection is critical for OLED longevity, this should not be happening. Try the following:

Factory Reset the Monitor

  • Navigate to OSD Menu > System > Reset to Factory Defaults.

Lighting Firmware Not Updating

Since you've tried updating the lighting firmware from 43.1.2.23 to 43.1.2.25, but it doesn't take effect:

Uninstall and Reinstall OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Remove OMEN Gaming Hub, restart your PC, and reinstall from HP’s official site.
  • Then, try updating the firmware again.

New Firmware Release?

The last firmware update was in November 2024, and I understand you're wondering if HP will release a fix soon. Unfortunately, we don’t have an official ETA on the next firmware, but you can check HP support page periodically for updates.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello,

I have tried all these and the issues persist.

I have all of the same issues that the first customer had, exactly the same issues and none of your suggestions work.

A couple of quick questions to help troubleshoot further:

For the DP 2.1 issue – Have you noticed if the issue happens only after a full system shutdown, or does it also occur when waking from sleep mode? Also, does manually selecting the DP input in the monitor’s OSD menu make any difference?

For OLED Protection – Does it turn off instantly when you power on the monitor, or does it stay enabled for a while before switching off? If you re-enable it, does it persist after a reboot?

For the firmware update issue – Just to confirm, after updating to 43.1.2.25, does the monitor still show 43.1.2.23 in the OSD menu, or is it only OMEN Gaming Hub that isn’t recognizing the update?

I know this is a hassle, but your answers will help pinpoint whether this is firmware-related or if there’s a workaround we can try. Let me know what you find, and I’ll do my best to help!

Hello, thank you for reaching out, here are my answers:

For the DP 2.1 issue – Have you noticed if the issue happens only after a full system shutdown, or does it also occur when waking from sleep mode? Also, does manually selecting the DP input in the monitor’s OSD menu make any difference?

Answer: It never hand shakes correctly, the bios splash screen before windows boots always works in dp 2.1 but from there I need to power cycle the monitor multiple times hoping that it will display the computer. When it does manage to handshake and display if it has to change from HDR to SDR or change bit rate for any reason (EG change refresh rate or use DSC to go above 4k120) it will lose signal again. I am connected to an Nvidia RTX 5080 (Asus Tuff model). Manually selecting anything other than DP 1.4 yields no result. I can manually change inputs or select 2.1 from the menu and no good. I have also tried setting the display resolution to 4k60 hz and disabling DSC to see if that would help, it does not help.

For OLED Protection – Does it turn off instantly when you power on the monitor, or does it stay enabled for a while before switching off? If you re-enable it, does it persist after a reboot?

Answer: OLED protection works perfectly in SDR, whenever  I am in SDR mode the monitor correctly remembers to leave the protection enabled. Whenever I cycle into HDR mode the protection settings are automatically turned off, I can turn them on while in HDR manually and they will stay on for the duration on their own, however when the monitor goes to sleep in HDR mode they turn off again upon wake, also if I go into SDR and back to HDR they are off in HDR again. Any interruption such as sleep or changing display modes while in HDR will turn them off. For example: Windows boots in SDR, the protection is on, I boot any videogame (or movie) which features HDR the protections default to off, and when I finish playing and return to SDR desktop they default to on, as previously noted they always work perfectly in SDR. Flatly said, the monitor can not store the protection values when HDR engages no matter what the user does, it is as if the monitor has no ability to save these values and can only default to off when HDR engages or re-engages. Please note I have proceeded with every trouble shooting step including resetting to default value.

For the firmware update issue – Just to confirm, after updating to 43.1.2.25, does the monitor still show 43.1.2.23 in the OSD menu, or is it only OMEN Gaming Hub that isn’t recognizing the update?

Answer: Unfortunately I am just like the many others who have reported that the firmware cannot install due to failing at the lighting stage. It reads : "unable to communicate with device. Firmware cannot be installed" when it reaches the lighting portion of the update, unfortunately I am not alone with this issue and this is very common among online complaints. I have used the omen software, the HP website, as well as the hp connect app to update. Same error at the same place, every single time. So I am stuck on firmware 1.0.4.0

Should I RMA this monitor? I have not had this many bugs and trouble with a display in my life. Are the models you are currently producing fixed? Thank you for your help, I look forward to resolving all of these problems.

I'm also seeing Issue 2 where OLED Protection keeps turning off. Also have issues with the KVM where it will not switch to an inactive input. 4+ months now with these issues, where is the firmware update HP?

I have the exact same issues with the monitor as this poster.  How do we fix this problem?

Is there anyway I can get support on this issue? I have identical problems to the poster.
