Ok so, I just bought a HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0018 with OMEN accesseries. Everything seems to be working fine until I realized the microphone isnt registering. I've been searching the net for 3 days now reading forum after forum and nothing seems to work. No matter which jack I plug it into the mic does not register, Headphones work just not the mic... Also I keep getting this Syncom.dll missing error message. If anyone can shed some light on fixes for these two issues it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I understand you are in need of support,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Could you provide me with the exact model of the Omen mouse? Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Have you attempted to install the HP Omen Control from the Windows store and check if it works once you uninstall it from the device?
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers?
Let's try uninstalling the HP Omen Command center from Control panel, programs and features.
Once done, restart the computer and then try to install the Omen control from our HP support website, using this link.
Next issue regarding the microphone issue,
- Did you try the tap test in audio settings for the headset microphone?
- Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?
-
Have you confirmed the Microphone is listed under device manager?
-
Did you try an external microphone to check if that works?
I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -
Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.
Now try to perform a Windows update:
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the audio drivers from device manager:
- Right-click on the speaker icon on the lower right corner of the taskbar.
- Then please select recording devices. Please select the Headset Mic option
- Then tap the Lid near the top gently several times next to where the webcam is located and check if the microphone bars respond to the taps and receive inputs.
- If they do then it should work with a driver uninstall and reinstall.
- Please make sure that the headset Mic is set to default and enabled in properties option.
Then please perform these steps from device manager.
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers. Check the box that says delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the bios, chipset and audio drivers from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers please select the country and follow the on-screen instructions.
Then check if this does the trick for you.
If the issue continues, then check if the internal Microphone is working and perform all the relevant steps from this link: HP PCs - Resolving Microphone Problems (Windows 10, 😎 to troubleshoot the issue Then check if it gets resolved.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
