Omen Accelerator
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There is a widely circulated list of compatible video cards on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/eGPU/comments/6vbkd1/here_is_list_cards_supported_by_the_omen/

But it is a bit old now and does not include the newer Nvidia chips. Can HP support post a more updated list?

I bought a 1070 Ti for example and am having a heck of a time setting it up--it still does not work.

In the absence of an updated compatibility table, I cannot be certain what is going on with my system.

thank you

@koolkao, welcome to the forum.

The only list that I am aware of is in this ad for the Omen Accelerator.  I wouldn't rely on third party lists.  They are not always correct.

Thanks for the response.

The ad does not solve my problems. My understanding is that HP originally sold the Omen Accelerator with built-in video card. Now however it is selling the Accelerator as an empty external GPU enclosure.

This means that the buyer now faces the task of pairing the right cards to the Accelerator. I have personally sunk 10s of hours trying to get this to work with a 1070 Ti card.

Would appreciate HP Support running some in-house tests and releasing the info to match the way it is now selling the Accelerator.

thanks

Thank you for the additional information, @koolkao.

This is a peer to peer help forum. The only presence that HP has on it are the Admins and the Mods. Otherwise, none of us works for HP.

As you saw in the ad the GTX 1070 Ti is not on the list.  So at this point it is not recommended by HP.

@old_geekster, I actually somehow missed the listing of supported cards on the page you sent me to.

Based on that ad, it seems most Nvidia chips are supported except for the 1070 Ti I bought (of course).

I guess I will return the card and get the 1080 instead.

thanks!

I went out and bought a EVGA 1070 card which is said to be compatible with the Acceleartor.

Whereas before, the 1070 Ti card was recognized and simply the driver would not install, now the 1070 card is not even recognized at all.

That is, the 1070 card does not even show up in Device Manager.

I have 2 x360 in my household and both experience the same issue.

@koolkao, did you mean that you bought a EVGA 1080?  The 1070's are not on the compatibility list, as we discussed.

It is part of the list "NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070"

You are correct.  It is listed in the HP ad.

I suggest that you contact the manufacturer's Tech Support for help with your problem.  They are the experts on the products.  If the 1070 is compatible they should be able to help you get it running.
