OMEN by HP Mindframe Prime Headset

Each time I bring the microphone down from the upright (muted) position, to the lower (unmuted) position, I am faced with very loud and constant static and cannot hear anything besides the static. If I mute the mic through the computer, the static persists. I try to move the mic around (back and forth, up and down) and the static remains, though it changes each time a move/touch the mic. After a while of "readjusting" the mic, I am finally able to get the static to stop. Though, if the mic gets touched in the slightest, the static returns and I have to begin "readjusting" it all over again. This occurs every single time I attempt to use the microphone.

When the mic is in the upright (muted) position, there is no static.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @BrAnDoNs26,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OMEN Mindframe Prime headset is experiencing a common issue with microphone interference or a loose connection. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Check Connections

  • Ensure Proper Connection: Make sure the headset is securely plugged into the correct port on your computer. If it uses a detachable cable, check that both ends are firmly connected.
  • Try Different Ports: If your headset uses a USB connection, try a different USB port. If it’s a 3.5mm jack, try plugging it into a different audio port if available.

Inspect the Microphone

  • Check for Damage: Look at the microphone and its connections for any visible damage or loose parts.
  • Adjust the Mic Position: Ensure the microphone is positioned correctly and not too close to your mouth or other noise sources.

Update Drivers

  • Audio Drivers: Ensure your audio drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP website or use a driver update tool to check for the latest versions.
  • Headset Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your headset.

Configure Audio Settings

Windows Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound.
  • Under the Recording tab, find your headset's microphone, right-click, and select Properties.
  • In the Listen tab, ensure "Listen to this device" is unchecked.
  • In the Levels tab, adjust the microphone level and boost settings.

Headset Software: If your headset has dedicated software, use it to adjust settings such as microphone sensitivity and noise cancellation.

Test on Another Device

  • Different Computer: Try using the headset on another computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the headset or your current computer setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
