Omen Sequencer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased an Omen Sequencer keyboard for my son.  I have the Omen Command Center and background service running and the HID local service set to automatic but when the computer wakes from sleep mode, the volume control on the keyboard no longer works.  I have to unplug and re-insert the USB to get it working again.  Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue.

@collarca,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

The HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers & BIOS for your computer

Alternatively you can either go ahead and install the Bios, and Chipset drivers for your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

    Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

     Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows 10 is up to date

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates

that are currently available.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you try to uninstall the keyboard drivers from the device manager and then restart the PC.

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for your reply.  I have actually followed all of those steps to no avail.  I also have set a custom power plan to disable the selective USB suspension just in case.  If the PC (Alienware Aurora R7) is put into sleep mode, when it is woken up, the volume and the omen command center keys will not work until I restart the PC or unplug the USB and re-insert it.

I have no idea as to what settings are still out there for me to tweak to keep this from happening.

@collarca,

Let's try to uninstall the keyboard drivers from Device manager:

Right click start> left click device manager expand Keyboards right click on the mentioned keyboard driver and left click on uninstall. THen restart the computer.

What is the product number of your HP Product? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

uninstall the Omen command center from control panel - program and features.

Now once done, update the Bios on your PC using HP Support Assistant.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Next Install the Omen command center from Windows Microsoft store:

  1. Click the Windows Store icon in the system tray.

  2. Search for OMEN Command Center.

  3. Click Update.

    Wait while the program downloads and installs.

  4. Click Play.

    OMEN Command Center opens.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂

Hello,

I will get the PN when I get home and post it but I followed the steps outlined below to no avail.  Neither the HP support utility or the Alienware Update Center can show any updates to the desktop or the BIOS.

Its very curious.  Sometimes when the PC is woken up from sleep the hot keys and volume controls work but within a few minutes stop functioning again.  The HID Service always shows as running as well but even manually restarting that service does nothing until I remove and re-insert the USB or restart the PC.  I am starting to wonder if it is a hardware issue with the keyboard itself or if the Sequencer just doesn't play nice with non HP desktops.  I do not see this issue with other keyboards that I have with multi-media functionality when I test them.

@collarca,

This could be a possible hardware failure. Before we come to any conclusion, let's try to perform a system reset.

For more details, please follow the steps suggested in this support document for - HP PCs - Resetting Your Computer (Windows 10)

Please try and get back to us with the results for further assistance.

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂
