ok guys, want to give you an update of that crappy piece(s) o sht

I ordered an usb card allegly helping to speak mandarin or whatever to that hp binos: in a german video they said the inatek card with fresco logic chipset should bring ease. no help. but a real piece of chinese craftmanship, i suspect a condensator to be broken off - not my fault. it kinda worked but u wouldnt trust it too with "cold soldering" in place where a condensator should be... there was another point of soldering that made me suspicious. so i wouldnt recommend to go for that one.

So i ordered the next card, this time a renkforce (kinda no name label over here in the old europe. sry but i never would have figured that i would support that view on us by ole don rumsfeld - in the end he is right... thx to angie, the kaiseress without cloathes hehe). Ok that one looked build well back in the land of the middle, and it has a renesas chipset, 72020 i think, but i didnt verify on assembly - now it is in there. it says renesas in the device management console anyways. ok, the big moment... Boot up, hopes rise. no crash, great. Firstly i used it with a powered hub and without powered headset. that didnt do it. so powered the glasses as well by their own powersource and tada, glasses recognized. BUT i had not plugged in the dp cable yet. For this joke i even bought a separate dp cable with 8k 1.4 specs (to fool the graphics). Glasses send me a one finger salute with 7-14 comment. Ok byebye dp cable, plugged reverb into the 5700xt directly AND U WONT BELIVE IT !!!! sry  - of course BSOD again. But so far i changed my mind and am now convinced, that it is the bloody graphics card that discriminizes the reverb g2... USB really doesnt seem to be the reason for crashing.

And to you, my friends of hp, listen up: i am working as a doctor in times of corona every day, hadnt a day of sick leave last year, drive about 2,5 hours a day AND spend HOURS for fixing your device in that small time that is left of the day. I dont give up that easy since i started games and especially simulations (for which i bought the reverb) back in the days of c64.  And i think id deserve a plug not pray device for the bucks. I will tell AMD as well, no mistake bout that. But when i look at all the messages here and elsewhere i feel like doing YOUR job. So a little appreciation would be nice. No, i didnt call for a chat with one nice hp guy/girl/diverse yet, maybe later. But if you had an solution to offer, i guess you would have provided it to me.

To all others, keep on trying and plz post if you made advances in that matter. Greetings from the eifel mountains and a happy new year (anyways)!

Hi,

Also exactly the same problem with my G2, system specs:

AMD 5800XT

MSI X570 Tomahawk

Powercolor 6900XT Red Devil

32GB G.Skill F4-3600C15 @ XMP speed

Came from a 2080Ti which had no problems running the G2. After switching GPU's I ultimately even re-installed my W10 to ensure no "left-overs" would interfere with the G2. If I install the AMD GPU driver while keeping the G2 plugged in (i kept it plugged in during the whole W10 installation and first few Windows Update cycles) the driver installer flashes the screen briefly and after that the system reboots.

If I unplug the DP cable of the headset while installing the AMD GPU driver the installation finishes successfully, however as soon as I plug in the DP cable a BSOD appears with stop code MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I'm utterly disappointed because I already sold my 2080Ti...

Are HP going to acknowledge this issue? There are A LOT of others outside of this site reporting the exact same show-stopping problem, yet nothing from HP outside of 'visit support site and enter your serial then call'. Serial not recognised for starters! Calling isn't going to fix this widespread problem and just wastes yet more of our time... Can you at least acknowledge the problem and advise on remediation steps being taken?

Of course I made contact with hp, but no helpful reply. Everything they suggested i had done before (and wrote that in my post). But HP support has nothing to do with HP Community... no comment on that. To your serial no problem, i had to search for it after numbers on my box didnt work as well. The correct number is printed inside the HMB, you have to remove the face plate (plz dont use screwdrivers, i mean that foam thingie touching your forehead...) and dont forget your glasses, u gonna need them...

Hello.
I thank you guys (and all the othersthat posted helpful ideas) for participating and want to give a little update on my efforts. It is not the usb (tried 3 different cards). Took the time and changed graphic cards between PC's: aorus 5700 xt flew out of the new rig and into the old i7 in exchange for an nvidia 1070 which went into the new rig (aorus 570 board). Results are: new rig (570) works with 1070 and reverb G2! BUT old rig recognizes HMD reverb g2 by usb and crashes when HMD/dp is inserted. So its the 5700xt and/or drivers! Unfortunately the 1070 lacks power for the HMD (which i have to test, did just the proof of concept). I thought that might interested (correctly? dunno) you.

I talked today with a guy from german AMD support.

He told me that they are aware of the problem and that they are working on it. His opinion is that it is a AMD driver issue. It looks like they had a similar problem with the Quest 2 what should be fixed with the new 21.1.1 driver update from today. Unfortunately our problem is not fixed with the new driver.

Maybe we have luck and they get rid of that problem soon. I really hope so.....

Same issue here. AMD 3800x and 5700xt with x570 chipset. BSOD using an internal add-in USB3 card. With motherboard USB never gets this far. Hope for a fix soon. Deciding if I want to keep or send back.

Same issue.

Z490 Maxumus 12 Hero i10900k

6800xt Merc XFX

32g 3600

The error is caused by ntoskrnl.exe bug check string MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

Wasted many many hours trying to get this to work. No word or acknowledgment to the issue. Will return the G2 shortly.

Sorry to break the bubble, but you'd better return the AMD GPU. It's not the G2 which is the problem. I had a perfectly working system with my Nvidia GPU, the problems started when I installed a 6900XT. So now I ordered a 3080 and the problems will probably be solved.

Had a phonecall by hp. they recommend to try an older driver, "maybe that works". Awesome, hp develops a new entertainment system like G2 and cannot ensure that it is working with (near) latest AMD graphic cards. Yeah sure next time its again the green team for me, but right now there is no supply of nvidia cards over here in germany and the ones available have skyrocketing prices. BTW i wondered why this is so. I dont think it has to do with covid, because homeworkers dont need latest gaming hardware. And peoples in lockdown should be worrying about their job and money, so they wouldnt buy cards like 3080 either. So i tend to think its higher production cost aka inflation... but thats another topic.

Anyways G2 dont go along latest amd graphics (HP: not our fault, call AMD, yeah thx a lot). So it wont be hp printers (etc) anymore for me either. And no kudos for hp service by me.
