Update#2 - Problem Solved!

The Windows 11 update version 22H2 causes an issue with the app Windows Mixed Reality, which causes GPU or CPU latency spikes... which causes stutters!

Fix#1: Roll back your windows update to before 22H2

Fix#2: Look up on reddit or the Microsoft Flight Simulator threads for 'Windows 11 HolographicShell performance fix' and follow the directions. This fix has completely removed all high latency spikes (15ms+) in all of my VR games. Please note that the HolographicShell service is only active when your headset is plugged in *AND* Windows Mixed Reality app is running.

Good luck!

Update#1 - Solution (mostly) found:

WMR for SteamVR app setting "Motion Reprojection" was set to "Motion Vector." This forced games @45fps and the recreation of fake frames caused frequent stutters in my case with a PC that can get 90fps+. I do occasionally get a jitter when moving my head but the majority of problem was from reprojection of frames, causing higher frametime latency.

Original post:

Hi, I only play sim racing titles at the moment, but I notice sometimes that the headset will lose tracking (gray screen) or more frequently it will stutter/jitter. Reducing render scaling in-game and SteamVR does not affect this. I have tried different lighting setups, clearing environment data in the WMR settings, and setting new Seated Position via WMR.

I am wondering if the head tracking would be improved by turning on both controllers (which I don't use when racing) and placing one on each side of the table in front of me. Would the LEDs from the controllers aide the headset cameras in tracking my head movement?

Thanks.
