Hello.
I got my G2 V2 a couple weeks ago and love the high res displays and clarity, but I'm so not impressed with the WMR part of the equation.
My problem is during sim racing, I do not turn on the controllers since they are useless for sim racing. I can get into which ever Sim title I want, start racing and after a while, the G2 goes bonkers, I'll get a quick blue screen, then it'll either slowly flip upside down and then look to the left and right on it's own, or just blue screen followed by it looking to the left and right then re-centering. I did everything, tried various USB ports, did a mother board Bios update and so on, nothing seemed to help. Then I decided to add one light near my cockpit aimed at the ceiling which really helped, but it still does this but not as often, Am I needing to light my room to the point where I need shades when I get out of VR?
I love this headset, I hate the WMR, please, if you make a G3..... make it a native SteamVR headset and drop WMR, it blows dead goats at midnight! LOL
Any help you can offer to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I've never had this problem with my Valve Index or Oculus Quest-2 over link cable.

Hi@CaTaPulT81,
Thanks for engaging in the HP support community! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
Install and update the latest BIOS & video card drivers, once done, use the below steps:
-
Open the controller's battery cover.
-
Press and hold the pairing button. It is located below the batteries.
-
Press and hold the Windows button for five seconds.
-
Release both buttons simultaneously. The process of resetting should take about 15 seconds.
-
Pair your motion controllers with your PC.
Once done, try the below steps:
-
Open the Mixed Reality Portal app on your PC.
-
In the side, menu click on see more.
-
Select set up controllers.
-
In the settings screen, you now see, click add Bluetooth or another device.
-
Open the battery door on your controllers.
-
Press the small button below the batteries for 2 seconds until the lights flash.
-
When the controllers appear in the list, click connect.
Now, put on your headset and make sure that they're working and tracking OK. If you don't see them as in the image above, hold down the Windows button for two seconds until it vibrates to turn them off.
Then repeat the process to turn them back on again and this should make them both appear in front of you.
Once the controllers have paired over Bluetooth the lights on the ring will stop flashing and instead stay bright and steady.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I guess you didn't read my message.
I'm not having problems with controllers, I'm having problems with the G2 headset itself.
When sim racing, occasionally, I'll get a blue screen followed by the visuals looking to the left, then to the right and then it re-centers. Sometimes when it does this, the whole image in the headset will flip upside down before it re-centers.
I just swapped GPU's from a AMD 6900xt to a nVidia 3080ti and it seems to be worst now with the 3080ti even though it still did it from time to time with the 6900xt.
Even with the extra lighting I installed, it's still doing it but it had gotten better, now it's back to going the funky screen more often (just about every race) but it's very unpredictable as to when it will act up.
I'm starting to believe I either have a bad cable or a defective G2 headset, this is a V2 version also, with the split facial interface and the new cable with a power button on the in cable box.
I'm at my wits end, I've tried everything, I just want to race in peace without the displays going crazy which make me drive into a wall since I can't see what's going on for those few seconds when it does this.
Please help, trying to find a HP support email address or even a phone number to call is almost impossible, at one place on the HP Canada website it says "contact us" but I get a 404 error when I click it (page not found).
Take care

Hi all.
Looks like I may have solved my issue with the G2.
Seems the G2 is fussy about how you turn it on as compared to other VR headsets.
I had mine connected to a Sabrent switch 4 port USB-3 hub.
I noticed that when I turned on the USB port the G2 was connected to, the white light on the in cable box for the G2-V2 would light up, so I figured all was good, WMR portal would NOT give any errors and would say "Ready".
My guess is by starting the G2 this way it messed up some video signal timings.
My solution:
I plugged the G2's USB plug (with USB-A adapter) into a USB-3 port in the back of the PC and now use the little power button on the in cable box to turn on or off the G2. I've not had the problem stated in previous messages since, it's been 3 days of sim racing with no problems, the G2 is working flawlessly.
A couple of days ago, I managed to get a hold of a HP tech support person, he sent me a replacement cable, it's out for delivery as I type this, when I get it, I'll either just send it back untouched or call HP to see if I can purchase the new cable (it's on sale right now in Canada) and have it as a spare.
Needless to say I am so happy to have my G2 working properly now, I love the visuals and the optics of this headset, still hate the controllers but am not using them for sim racing, I use my Valve Index for general VR instead, just to not have to use the G2 controllers. I have tried to get the Valve Knuckles to work with the G2, had it where they tracked perfectly, but SteamVR would do a lot of weird things when re-starting like wanting to re-draw the chaperone bounds each time I started SteamVR. So I gave up on the idea of using the Valve knuckles with the G2.
Take care
