HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality Headset
Microsoft Windows 11

My new EVGA RTX 3090ti does not work with my Reverb G2 VR headset in MSFS 2020. The headset is not recognized. All worked fine with my 3070ti that I updated from. My Oculus Quest 2 works fine with the 3090ti. The Quest 2 is like taking 2 steps backwards compared to the Reverb G2. Can you advise on new drivers or firmware for the Reverb G2 so it will work on the new 3090ti cards. A shame to waste a 2000 dollar video card.

I have the same problem with NVIDIA 3090TI founders edition. Errorcode 1-4 in Windows Mixed Reality. The headset HP Reverb G2 was working fine a week ago with 2080 founders edition. PLEASE FIX

It’s working with the original version one cable from HP

True. But that cant be the solution. Possible incompatibilty issues regarding usb with amd mainboard (or additional cost for pcie usb hub) plus 80-150$  for the cable if you can get it anywhere but ebay..

Hi there. 🙂

Any updates on this topic from HP Support?

I have the same incompatibility with a GigaByte 3090ti Extreme Waterforce and am waiting for weeks for the problem to be solved.

I tried contacting HP for them to send me a gen1 cable, but neither do they have one, nor are they produced anymore. The guy on phone was totally oblivious to the incompatibility problem and that was a week ago.

The problem is with the 3090ti, since several other HMDs too aren't recognized in WMR. Oculus & Pimax, as far, as I read.

At least NVIDIA aquired some headsets for themselves for further testing and included the topic for their next driver bulletin.

So, the question is, who's faster and is it a WMR problem of Microsoft, a firmware problem of HP and other manufacturers, or a driver problem of NVIDIA?

GeForce GRD 512.77 released...

Open Issues:

GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Oculus Rift S/Pimax 8Kx is not detected.

Send Nvidia a Rev 2 Cable or a Headset with v2 cable!!!!!!

This isnt even funny anymore!

OMG,...

I wish, I hadn't read this. Total kick to the,...

What's it now? A month? And a half?

Ouh HP watching and deleting links .... maybe fix the issue instead by sending nvidia nessesary equipment to test..

Look for a reddit thread called "G2 V2 and 3090 TI"

The issue was posted on April 2nd

Yeah,... it was more a rhetorical question for HP support, how long it has taken already.

Meanwhile I tried a workaround, mentioned in another reddit-thread. Got a used, one meter short HP backpack-cable and bought some extensions and adaptors. The guy in reddit got his Pimax working that way. Sadly no use for the Reverb. But maybe it depends on the extension cables and someone gets lucky, just by reducing PCIE to 3.0.

Hi@Scoopist,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality Headset.

I have a few recommendations

  • This may happen because the HP Reverb G2 requires a more powerful PC to ensure the best experience. For more information, please review the minimum PC requirements.
  • This issue can be fixed by unplugging and plugging the headset cables from the PC (making sure they are fully seated), or rebooting. If the issue persist, please make sure the computer is fully up-to-date and that it meets the Minimum System Requirements.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
