Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
-
Try a Different USB Port:
-
Plug the M260 mouse into a different USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.
-
Avoid using a USB hub — connect it directly to the PC.
-
-
Reinstall the Software:
-
Uninstall the current version of the HP Mouse Software.
-
Reboot your PC.
-
Download and install the latest version of the HP Gaming Mouse Driver. If you don't have the download link, I can help find it if you let me know your Windows version (e.g., Windows 10 64-bit).
-
-
Check Device Manager:
-
Open Device Manager.
-
Under "Mice and other pointing devices," see if the HP M260 shows up.
-
If it's listed as “HID-compliant mouse” or has a yellow warning icon, right-click and update the driver.
-
-
Run the Software as Administrator:
-
Right-click the HP Mouse software shortcut.
-
Select "Run as administrator".
-
-
Compatibility Mode (Optional):
-
If it’s an older version of the software, right-click the .exe file → Properties → Compatibility tab → Run in compatibility mode for Windows 7 or 8.
-
-
Check for Conflicts:
-
Other mouse customization tools (like Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, etc.) may conflict. Try closing those and restarting the HP software.
-
