There is much speculation as to what will happen with our HP Reverb G2 after Windows drops the Windows Mixed Reality Portal (WMR). Some have stated that this will not be an issue until Windows 12 is released. Recently, many are stating the G2 will become useless after the next major Windows current OS update.
Does anyone know the reality? NOT HEARSAY, NOT SPECULATION!! I need to see REAL documentation from (Preferably) HP, but I will settle for clarification from Microsoft. Still waiting to hear back from HP, and will update if I hear anything back from them.

Microsoft have announced that the next major Windows 11 update (24H2) will exclude the Window Mixed Reality Portal completely. So that will turn your and my Reverb G2 into an expensive door stop. The suggested work around is to disable Windows Update....no really....The word from HP appears to be silence. They have your money so they really couldn't give a ****.

I can confirm that this bricks your VR headset. I am running the insider preview for Windows 11 and have upgraded to 24H2 which has stopped the headset from working, and drivers are inoperable in device manager. SteamVR in windows also does not recognise the headset.
Time to downgrade to 23H2 and only get security updates.
Really hope HP can remedy this and maybe move to OpenXR native such as other headsets like Q3 and Pimax.

Well here it is 5 months later since I contacted HP regarding this issue, and still no response. I have since purchased the Quest 3, since right after writing my first inquiry here, my G2 took a Sh**. Honestly, I don't miss it. The Q3 was a HUGE step over the G2. I use it for MSFS, and it performs flawlessly using Virtual Desktop, and Desktop Streamer.
HP, stick to making printers, you're really good at screwing those up.

Same here.
The Win11 24H2 Preview update installed itself without warning a used (!) feature (WMR) will be removed without alternatives.
It's a pity, I bought the HP Reverb G2 directly from HP just after the improved G2 came out.
I'm not sure if I'll buy HP hardware again.
* They locked the access to the support of my switch behind a subscription but I can't even register for access to an EOS archive because they refuse to accept all my personal mail addresses for registration.
* They keep constantly "improving" printer firmwares so the printers refuse to print with alternative ink tanks installed. Not to mention the software itself doesn't work smoothly.
* And now the lack of support for the VR hardware. There's not even a warning "This product will NOT work with Windows 11 24H2 and later versions" so customers have the chance to get another product instead of wasting money.

Same here. I bought the HP G2 and liked it so much that I invested in an RTX 3090 ($1500) to use it in MSFS 2020 as opposed to the RTX 2070 that came with my i9-9900K computer. I expected Microsoft to support the technology far longer. I will stay with Win11 23H2 as long as possible and think twice about buying any HP technology in the future (I own an HP LaserJet Pro 400 printer). This is just another one of a long list of Microsoft technologies that they've "trialed" and left the user high-and-dry with a useless or much less useful product. I can barely remember the long list of MS stuff I have that isn't supported anymore, like Surface RT, several Windows Phones, Microsoft Band, Cortana, my Cortana speakers, my Surface Headphones (vers. 1), and my Xbox One Kinect. Just add Windows Mixed Reality and the HP G2 headset to that ever-expanding list.
