Reverb G2 VR headset has no sound. I installed the firmware update provided by hp and it now appears as "Realtek USB2.0 Audio" in Device Manager and as the default sound device. The microphone works and the VU meters move when I test sound, but the speakers make no sound. I have to switch to an external sound device like my desktop speakers to hear sound from the VR programs.

Hi@ziphler,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the Reverb G2 VR headset has no sound.

I have a few recommendations

  • HP recommends using only USB controllers built into the motherboard with Reverb G2 devices. If the issue persists, try using a different USB port.
  • check bios, Win audio settings,
  • check and adjusted WMR, and SteamVR settings
  • remove and reseat headset speakers
  • swapped multiple USB ports

Well didn't try removing and "resetting" the headset speakers but tried everything else. I've returned the headset because the sound never did work. I bought it supposedly new on ebay without the cable and thus had to buy a cable from hp for $100 so saved on headset but paid for it with extra money now lost on the cable. They wouldn't replace headset, said I had to take a refund.
