Hi there,
My Reverb G2 Mixed reality headset turned up today, but the drivers refused to install, similarly to the issue experienced here:
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06308089
And the advice in that KB is poor, so I thought I would just put together this handy guide to show others how I got it working.
Here's what I see in device manager:
"
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
Right clicking the item in device manager and selecting update driver failed.
Even windows update was failing to find a driver and telling me that Windows was up-to-date:
Start -> Winver showed the following:
And I had a version of the Mixed Reality Portal installed in Windows, but I checked the Microsoft Store (available from the Start Menu) and it seemed as though there was a new version of the Mixed Reality Portal available, but it wouldn't let me install it as I didn't meet the criteria:
Solution:
It seems that there is an October 2020 Windows 10 update which needs to be deployed from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Once that is installed, windows will automatically install the correct driver for the HP Reverb G2, which will be listed under device manager here:
You can then return to the Microsoft Store and install the new version of the Mixed Reality Portal.
Hope this helps someone.
