I was on 1909 and I couldn’t getting it working using any of the ports on my x570 motherboard. I was able to get it to work by plugging it into the USB port on my monitor.  I updated to 2004 today and it didn’t change anything.

Same issue, I'm on a ASUS Prime Pro X570 motherboard. Anyone at HP reading these threads? Do you guys don't do any quality assurance?

Thanks, it now works! And thanks to all the others who have been helpful on this post!

Chuckyou999999, could you please let us know _what exactly_ worked for you to fix this?

If you have sata power going into case usb ports (separate from motherboard) try using those. It's how I got mine going.

Asus x570 ROG strix gaming-e Motherboard (AMD)

PSU: EVGA 750 GQ, 80+ GOLD 750W, Semi Modular

GPU: Msi Rx 5700 xt mech oc

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x

RAM: 64GB DDR4 3200

It took some bouncing around and I've been sick so my attempts were sporadic. But here's how it went:

- Plugged in HP G2, auto installed WMR. Got code 7-14

- Tried moving around usb and displayport inputs. No luck.

- Uninstalled WMR and Reinstalled WMR. Reboot pc. No luck.

- More moving usb, rebooting, reinstalling. No luck.

- Went to store got VANTEC 2P USB 3.1 GEN2 A/C PCIE, installed it. Used new pcie card usb type-c. No luck. Still error 7-14.

- I realized I need to attach VANTEC 2P USB 3.1 GEN2 A/C PCIE to my power supply but I couldn't remember which of the 3 (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) port I am supposed to use when only using one of them (I've had a problem with this before ? something like you have to use the 1st in line? I still don't remember). So I tried all positions (1st, 2nd, 3rd) into the new PCIe card. Still nothing. Error 7-14.

- On last ditch effort, I decided to plug the HP G2 usb type-c (*using type-A adapter) into my front panel usb port (*which has it's own power connection to PSU) and it finnally worked. *but* I had to uninstal WMR 1st* reboot. Then plugged in the HP G2 (using front panel for usb). Reinstalled WMR, plugged in, no error.

I have been sick and not messing with this but I plan on trying the PCIe card again - I may have it hooked up wrong to the psu. But I will update this. Also, another possible tip: uninstall and reinstall WMR when trying new things***

I hope this helps!

Same issue with Asus PRIME X570-P, 3700X and MSI 3070.

Video card is mounted vertically, so no room to mount a USB card for me 😞

You could try a USB hub. I plugged my G2 into the hub built into my monitor and it has been working flawlessly.

Ok I've found a fix that is working for me. Like many have reported, a USB 3.0 pcie card did the trick and I no longer have any issues with the audio cutting in and out. The specific model I used is a Startech model #PEXUSB312EIC. The only issue with it is the USB-C port. It gives me a 7-14. But the other 3.0 ports work flawlessly with the adapter included with the G2. I highly suggest updating drivers from Startech's product page and don't rely on the default drivers installed by Windows.

I have a feeling this still won't solve EVERYONE'S issues, because I tried a card prior to this that was working with others mobos but didn't work with mine. But it's a suggestion in case anyone wants to try it out.

Heads-up: I got an UNPOWERED Anker USB 3.0 hub, connected it to a USB 3 port on the back of my computer, connected the headset via the USB C to A adapter and boom, headset is recognized and works.

This is the specific USB hub:
