While I appreciate the frustration, disappointment and anger of being in this situation, there is a (relatively) cheap and easy workaround.  I bought a cheap unpowered usb3.0 hub for about £10 which works perfectly.  Bios and drivers all updated beforehand.

I would advise against cutting the proverbial nose off to spite your face; it is after all the best performing VR HMD at its price.  Yes HP should be fixing/addressing this and I'm sure they will, but it has been the holiday season so let's give them chance?

Good for you. But that doesn't change anything for me. And it's not "all the best" performing VR HMD on the market for that money.

Not at all it comes with the best performance.

Even if it is technically working it comes with many downsides no one has told me in the preview tests before.

There is the issue with stuttering in Steam VR where I did not get a complete fix for. Which almost makes it senseless for me.

There is the issue that you are somehow cut out off the experience with specific IDPs and head shapes. The Sweetspot for me is terrible. I have an IDP of 59.5. If I use 60 on the Quest or Valve Index, it is totally fine. On the G2 it is simply not.

So the solution here would be to try to "mod" it with Odyssey face covers. Which maybe fixes the Sweetspot issue and also gives me a better FOV. As this is also the smallest one I have experienced by now.

As I said, even the Quest is much more easy to use with PC and its not designed for it.

Also it always needs to load windows MR application which also drains performance and will cause issues.

This thing was designed together with Valve and has no proper Steam integration?

Sorry HP, VR headsets even Mixed Reality will only be making sense if you fully support Steam. Mixed Reality Portal is completely nonsense at the current point as literally no one uses it.

I think it's sad it comes with so many issues because the sharpness of the picture is really great. But I can only agree with Dan. If this doesn't get worked on soon, and I do not see any reaction of the Devs at all, not any fix or something, then it's RMA.

Well Dan in that case given how you feel, you should probably return it for a refund and get yourself the "all the best" VR HMD for that money.  Also if you could post here which one you went for it would be great, as I'm not aware of a better comparable one.

Telly_Addict: Well this workaround doesnt work for everybody as you might think. I tried, and it didnt work for me. Both external USB hub and internal PCI-e card. I spent total of  €70 on these, in addition to €700 on the VR headset.

Riddiculus anyhow that a workaround, which may or may not work, is really needed.

HP has know about this error for a long time now, and nothing is fixed or communicated

I own a valve index and a Oculus Quest 1.

If I would do an RMA I would go for a Quest 2 in that case and the money I save I would add a good Headstrip for it.

The benefits from that choice is obviously still a very good picture quality and a wireless connection. Tracking of oculus is better and the Knuckles are also better.... So yeah pretty easy choice here.

I'd only keep the G2 for the sharp image as I really love that but if I cannot use it completely... No sense.

I had the same problem. I installed a cheap sata powered usb3 pcie expansion card that uses a non AMD controller. So far seems to be working perfectly.

I found this on Microsoft’s troubleshooting page for the G2. They seem to indicate that the cable HP include  with the G2 is to long and is out of tolerance for the USB spec. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/reverbg2-faq

I found another post from a user that opened a support case and he was told by HP that they needed to send him a new cable but they are on back order until March.

USB PCIE is no go for me unfortunately.
So far I tried 3 usb unpowered hubs and 2 powered ones and still getting 7-14 error, 4-7 error, 15-12 and 7-7 error.
Starting up Steam VR or Alyx makes me sick since everything is spinning around then "Lost Boundary message pops up" and WMR portal says that it lost connection to HMD so it tries to reconnect. This HMD at least mine is a disaster. And HP support is no help so far. Only good thing about this HMD is its resolution that's it otherwise it cannot beat my Index or Rift S. First one is hassle free second one is almost hassle free when it comes to Steam VR definitely less work than makes Reverb G2 works at least for a short time of period.

Have you tried changing to pcie 3.0 in bios? Seemed to work for me. At first it wouldn't connect at all, then with usb hub it connects but is very unstable and with usb hub and changing from pcie 4.0 to pcie 3.0 it's been working fine so far.
