when i plug in my xbox one controller to a usb port on my pc it will vibrate but the light will not turn on at all

They can be very finicky as I have learned from other users.

Some things to try...

  • Make sure no batteries are installed.
  • Go to the Device Manger. With the controller disconnected, enable View Hidden Devices. Then go to anywhere the controller installed and uninstall it like, Mice and other pointing devices, Universal Serial Bus controllers (uninstall any hidden devices anyway, it wont hurt anything). Then reboot the PC and connect the controller again.
  • Try a different USB cable.
