Hello, ive been having an issue where my laptop only works for ~10 minutes after blue screening and showing “3f0 boot device not found” i read some hp support conversations about the same issue and they all lead to bios updates or hdd failure. I tried to update bios (my bios are from 2022) but it shows “not enough disk space to update bios” (i have reinstalled windows) I do not know what to do now if someone can help resolve mh issues it would be great
edit: i updated bios by giving admin perms to the update file but now my laptop turns off after 15mins and doesn’t give any error codes, just plain black screen while the laptop still runs…idk what to do now 😭

Hi @Hasan39,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a tricky issue involving both your BIOS and potentially your hard drive. Here's a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.
Check Hard Drive Health
Run Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press ESC or F2 to enter the BIOS/Diagnostics menu.
- Look for a hard drive or storage diagnostic test and run it to check for any failures or errors.
Check SMART Status:
- If you can boot into Windows for a short time, use a tool like CrystalDiskInfo or the built-in Windows tool (chkdsk) to check the health of your hard drive.
Update BIOS Properly
Free Up Disk Space:
- Make sure you have enough free space on your primary drive (C:) before attempting another BIOS update. You can temporarily move large files to an external drive.
BIOS Update:
- Download the latest BIOS update from the HP support website for your specific model.
- Ensure you're following the exact instructions provided for the update, including any prerequisites.
Test Hardware Components
Memory Test:
- Run a memory test using Windows Memory Diagnostic or Memtest86 to check for RAM issues.
Overheating:
- Ensure that the laptop is not overheating. Clean the vents and fans to ensure proper airflow.
Reinstall or Replace the Hard Drive
Reinstall Windows:
- If the hard drive tests out, consider performing a clean reinstall of Windows to rule out software issues.
Replace the Hard Drive:
- If the diagnostics show the hard drive is failing, you may need to replace it. Ensure you have backups of your important data.
Given that you’ve already managed to update the BIOS but are still facing issues, focusing on hardware diagnostics and ensuring that your hard drive is functioning correctly is crucial.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello thanks for replying, answers to the bullet points you gave me:
• i tested the ssd and all other components by restarting and pressing f2. No issues there, everything passed (ssd would not let me do a extensive test though)
•Tested ssd thorough crystalcheck and inbuilt hardrive diagnostic tool. (Health 97%)
• tried chckdsk through cnd (no errors found)
• i updated bios through support website and watched the video provided.
• Tried both windows memory diagnostic and mem86 (no problems detected)
•had my laptop serviced 1 week ago and had all the vents cleaned and new thermal paste installed so its not an overheating issue
• have reinstalled windows 3 times and tested for corrupted files many times.
i feel like its a bios issue because i have already replaced the ssd with a new to test if its the ssd thats causing problems but it was not. I have also reset bios to factory settings and put on “normal boot mode” from system configuration as it was previously set to custom boot settings and “use original boot configuration” was off.
i have attached some blue screens i was gettibg before the “3f0 boot device not found” to better identify the problem as well as the results for the tests you asked me to perform.
please update me as soon as possible as this problem is on going for a month now.
Thanks
