Hi @Prasanna301,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

That sounds frustrating. When a key starts typing on its own, it can feel like your notebook has a mind of its own! This issue usually points to either hardware failure (stuck key or keyboard circuit fault) or software interference (driver glitch or accessibility settings).

Step 1: Check for a Physical Stuck Key

  • Gently press the problematic key several times.
  • Inspect for dust or debris around the key. If needed, use compressed air to clean.

Step 2: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Power off your notebook.
  • Turn it on and immediately press Esc, then F2 for System Diagnostics.
  • Go to Component Tests → Keyboard Test.
  • If the key fails the test, it’s a hardware issue, and the keyboard may need replacement.

Step 3: Update Keyboard Drivers

  • Open Device Manager → Expand Keyboards.
  • Right-click your keyboard → Update driverSearch automatically for drivers.
  • Restart your notebook.

Step 4: Check Sticky Keys / Accessibility Settings

  • Go to Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard.
  • Ensure Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys are turned OFF.

Step 5: External Keyboard Test

Connect a USB or Bluetooth keyboard. If the issue doesn’t occur, the built-in keyboard is faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
