I never added a fan behind the rad like this on a HP. Just to be clear when I get this installed. I want to get it right. I plug in the 4 pin splitter to the mobo cpu fan header. Plug in 4 pin cpu fan in 4 pin splitter side and the other side plug in the fan I am adding yes?

Hi,

Yes, splitter connects to the MB fan header. Then plug fans into the splitter. The MB fan header will power both fans.

I asked this question earlier; can you add another fan to this radiator? It must have mounting points to attach the fan using screws.

You bought a slim fan so you will need to use correct length screws to attach the fan to the radiator. An incorrect screw length could puncture the radiator.

I don't know? I was just going to use the screws from the back of the rad mounted to fan then use the fan screws to mount in back? Did I order the wrong fan?

Not worth the effort for the results. I will just have to get a new case or blower style fan RTX 3080. Cancelled the fan but kept the thermal grizzly and artic cleaner part of the order.

I ordered a new case. NZXT H510 Elite.

Hi,

I have used quite a few H510i cases in builds.

Here's the thing. I see some issues moving the HP Tampa2 MB to the 510 Elite.

The Tampa2 MB should fit in the 510 okay (standoffs match up).

You might have some issues with the front panel connections for power, activity LEDs, and front audio. I also see a USB type C power header on your motherboard and a Type C header. I don't know why you have a power header for type  USB C??

I don't see any USB 2.0 headers on your MB. You need a MB USB 2.0  header to power (talk to) the included NZXT smart device. This device controls case RGB and chassis fans. You need a second USB 2.0 MB header to power (talk to) most retail CPU AIO systems.

I have been using the NZXT Kraken X or Z series 280 mm AIO CPU coolers in the 510. This combo works well together. You need a USB 2.0 MB header to control this CPU cooler.

NZXT CAM software controls case and fan RGB and all fan/pump speeds via USB 2.0.

Oh man it seems like I can’t win! Guess I bought the wrong case? What should I do case wise then? Do I need to order an adapter or something? Drop down to a different case? Appreciate the help.

Would this work along with a 3.0 to 2.0 cable?

Hi,

You're venturing into the DIY realm. Mega OEMs (HP, DELL, Lenovo) have components built to their specifications.

The Tampa2 MB was designed to work with the Omen chassis. You may have to get a retail MB (same CPU socket and compatible chipset) and a new W10 product key if you want to use a retail  ATX case.

I see your subsequent reply as I am responding. The NZXT internal USB 2.0 Hub is only good if you have one USB 2.0 MB header. I did not see any USB 2.0 headers on the Tampa2 MB.

You need an open USB 3.0 header on the MB and a USB 3.0 19 pin female to 9 pin male USB 2.0 adapter. You will need two of these unless they make a single USB 3.0 to dual USB 2.0 adapter.

Don't forget you may have front panel connection issues referred to previously which may not be fixable.

What about that front usb 3.1 header on my mobo? Would that work? I don’t care if I lose front usb on new case?
