HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-0023w
This pc came with 250 gigs m.2. As it has three more sata ports ive tried putting in a new harddrive, but whenever i do the computer randomly freezes and you have to wait a few seconds for it to respond again. It also sometimes puts up a read write error. Ive already ruled out the hdds as the issue, as ive tried 4 different drives at this point, all with the same effect. i have tried a 6tb seagate sata hdd, a 4tb seagate sata hdd, a 2tb western digital sata hdd, and most recently a 1tb western digital sata ssd. ive tried every port possible. Two of these drives i have repurposed in my kid's pc and work with no issue, so i know its not the drives. I have checked drivers, run every hp diagnostic tool, ive even tried western digitals diagnostic tool for the wd ssd. everything comes back normal, even as the diagnostic software freezes during its process. i have no idea what the issue is at this point.

Hi @Remcent
I would say it is not a HDD problem based on the info you have provided. It sounds like you are saying HP Diagnostics freezes during tests.
Other possible causes:
System file corruption. Run a check disk.
SATA controller driver issue in Device Manager.
SATA data or power cables. SATA data cable problem (connections or a bad cable). PSU cable to the MB or the MB cable to the drives (connections or a bad cable or cables).
MB SATA hardware controller problem. This may require a new MB.
