Hi @Kishorekumar7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand the battery drain issue

Quick battery drain on your HP OMEN 16-wd0000 can occur due to various reasons, even if the battery health appears fine. Here’s a detailed troubleshooting guide to improve your laptop's battery performance:

May I know

1. Since when are you facing this issue

2. Have you made any changes on your PC post that this issue raised

Please try the following steps.

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

Restart the unit

Step 1: Adjust Power Settings

  1. Enable Battery Saver Mode:
    • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    • Navigate to System > Power & Battery.
    • Enable Battery Saver when on battery power.
  2. Select a Power Plan:
    • Right-click the battery icon in the taskbar > Power Options.
    • Select Balanced or create a custom power plan with reduced performance settings.

Step 2: Reduce Background Activities

  1. Disable Startup Programs:
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    • Go to the Startup tab and disable unnecessary apps.
  2. End Resource-Intensive Tasks:
    • In Task Manager, check the Processes tab for apps consuming high CPU/GPU and end unnecessary ones.

Step 3: Optimize Display Settings

  1. Lower Brightness:
    • Reduce screen brightness from the taskbar or settings.
  2. Disable Adaptive Brightness:
    • Go to Settings > System > Display > Brightness and toggle off adaptive brightness.
  3. Switch to a Static Wallpaper:
    • Avoid animated wallpapers or high-resolution background images.

Step 4: Update Drivers and BIOS

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Visit the NVIDIA or AMD website for the latest GPU drivers.
  2. Update BIOS:
    • Use HP Support Assistant or visit the HP Drivers & Downloads page for your specific laptop model.

Step 5: Check for Battery Draining Apps

  1. View Battery Usage by Apps:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery.
    • Scroll to Battery Usage by App and identify apps with high consumption.
    • Restrict or uninstall these apps if not needed.

Step 6: Check Battery Calibration

  1. Calibrate the Battery:
    • Fully charge the laptop to 100%.
    • Disconnect the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
    • Recharge to 100% without interruption.

Step 7: Perform a Battery Report

  1. Generate a battery report:
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:powercfg /batteryreport

    • Find the report in the directory shown and review it for discrepancies in battery capacity or cycles.

Step 8: Hardware Assessment

  1. Check Power Adapter and Battery:
    • Ensure the adapter is supplying adequate power (check the wattage rating).
    • Test the laptop with a different HP-certified power adapter if possible.
  2. Run Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Turn off the laptop and press F2 repeatedly during boot to enter the HP Diagnostics tool.
    • Run the Battery Test and review detailed results.

Step 9: Factory Reset or Reinstallation

If all else fails, there might be underlying system issues:

  1. Back up your data.
  2. Perform a factory reset using Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC.
  3. Alternatively, clean-install Windows.

  • If diagnostics indicate battery failure or overheating persists due to charging events, the battery may need replacement.

follow this link to run the test hardware test  Please check if you are getting a failure ID

If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document:
