Hi guys,
doing something different: posting a question WITH an answer! Because it’s nowhere on the internet! So I bought an Omen Obelisk 875-0014 brand new from Best Buy. After I ran the Born on setup to make it mine. I rebooted it and got CMOS error, CMOS will be reset (502). Two days of troubleshooting later I returned it and swapped out an identical one.
THE SAME THING HAPPENED! I was in disbelief!
I scoured the internet again.... NOTHING!
Everything said “dead battery”, “Clear CMOS” then I hit something unusual on HP site. It said, “there is an issue with Corsair memory and the heui or something and to upgrade that or (it’s a bios helper and diagnostic software) anyway it got me thinking and I crossed where the Eudora motherboard was designed for windows 7 and it dawned on me that maybe since the operation memory for the era was 8 gb then maybe it was a memory issue??? (This unit comes with a single 16)
I presumed by my passed experience in having to update and flash the CMOS BIOS to increase the memory capacity that this might be it. (It was the only thing left!) so I downloaded the F.05 and F.11 (for this intel board) off the HP site (be patient, you have to look DEEP) and went straight to Flash the Bios.
This things stable now and a BEAST! Yes I called BB and told them my findings, they politely said thank you, but their contract with HP doesn’t allow them to modify what arrived already even if in this case the bios is corrupt! Good luck friends!
Flash the Bios = ver. F.11 it’s an executable self contained, easy!
Solved! Go to Solution.
