Hi, my issue is that I bought a new CPU (Ryzen 7 5800XT), and on paper it’s fully compatible with my system. However, I can’t find a BIOS update that supports the CPU. When I install the CPU, everything powers on, but it doesn’t POST because the BIOS isn’t new enough.

The newest BIOS I can find for this system is from December 2023, while the CPU came out in July 2024. Is there anything I can do about this?

The best processor you can install in your PC would be the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X.

Greetings @dom1118

Welcome to the HP Forum @

HP would have to release a newer BIOS which would support the 5800XT which was launched in 2024.

It is very unusual to see HP consumer PCs get new CPU support in BIOS updates.

Hi, @dom1118

What is the full model number or product number of your PC?

HP PC's with AMD processors only support the specific processors listed on the motherboard specs regardless of what the general AMD chipset specs indicate.

I've never seen any exceptions before.

My PC Model is HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-0xxx and the product number is 6YR56AA#ABA.
