Hi @Shayla10,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help figure out what’s going on, could you give me a few more details?

Your exact HP Victus 15 model number.

Whether you recently upgraded or changed the RAM.

What happens exactly when you try to power it on after it shuts down do any lights blink besides the code?

How long you’ve had the laptop and if this happens every time you game or only sometimes.

1. Note the blinking code

  • You mentioned the code is 3 — does it blink in a specific pattern (e.g., 3 long, 3 short)?
  • This helps identify whether it’s a RAM issue, motherboard, or something else.

 2. Power reset

  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Hold down the power button for 15–20 seconds.

Plug the charger back in and try turning it on

3. BIOS Update : Using HP Support Assistant (Windows)

  1. Search for and open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.
  2. On the "My Dashboard" tab, select your computer, then click Updates.
  3. Allow HP Support Assistant to check for updates.
  4. Select any listed BIOS or other updates, click Download and install, and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Windows Update :

  1. Click the Start button, then select Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Click on Windows Update in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select Advanced options.
  4. Click on Optional updates.
  5. Expand the categories, check the boxes next to the updates you want to install.
  6. Click Download & install.
  7. Restart your computer when prompted to finish the installation.

4. Check for overheating

  • During gaming, laptops can shut down automatically to prevent damage if temperatures get too high.
  • Make sure the vents aren’t blocked and the laptop is on a hard, flat surface.
  • If you have monitoring software (like HWMonitor or CoreTemp), check CPU/GPU temps during play.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
