Hello i cant see the bluetooth option to device manager and generally i dont have bluetooth, also my mouse cant work and its connected to a usb portal. Before this happen i downloaded the scp toolkit because i wanted to connect a PS3 controller to my laptop. Hi @Georgia0802,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the SCP Toolkit installation might have interfered with your Bluetooth drivers or settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.
Check Device Manager
Open Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Look for a Bluetooth section.
- If you see any Bluetooth devices listed, right-click and select Enable if they are disabled.
Scan for Hardware Changes:
- In Device Manager, click on Action at the top and select Scan for hardware changes.
Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers
- Download the latest Bluetooth drivers for your OMEN by HP 17 from the HP Support website.
- Uninstall existing Bluetooth drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the Bluetooth device (if found) and select Uninstall device.
- If there’s a checkbox to delete the driver software, check it and proceed.
- Install the downloaded drivers:
- Run the installation file you downloaded from HP's website and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Windows Services
- Open Services:
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Start Bluetooth services:
- Look for Bluetooth Support Service.
- Right-click and select Start (or Restart if it's already running).
- Ensure the Startup type is set to Automatic.
Check for Windows Updates
- Check for updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.
Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter
- Run the troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Bluetooth and click on Run the troubleshooter.

Verify USB Ports
Since your mouse isn’t working either, check the USB ports:
- Try a different USB port:
- Unplug the mouse and plug it into a different USB port.
- Test the USB port with another device to ensure it’s functioning properly.
Restore Bluetooth Support Files
SCP Toolkit might have removed some crucial Bluetooth support files. Restoring these might help:
- Restore system files:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (Win + X > Command Prompt (Admin)).
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan for and attempt to repair corrupted system files.
System Restore
If all else fails, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a point before the SCP Toolkit installation:
- Open System Restore:
- Press Win + R, type rstrui, and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to restore your system to a previous state where Bluetooth was working.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
